G: Greatest Love of All

G: Greatest Love of All

“Learning to love yourself
It is the greatest love of all”

I think this is my favorite Whitney Houston song of all time. I remember hearing it for the first time while I was on my way to see the movie, Clue. What a talent Whitney Houston was. It is a shame drugs ruined her voice and ultimately took her life.

Did you know that the original song was sung by George Benson for the Muhammad Ali movie, The Greatest? I had no clue! And the songwriter, Linda Creed, wrote the lyrics while battling breast cancer.

Whitney’s version was released on her first album, Whitney Houston, but it didn’t actually hit the charts until 1986. In March of 1986 it spent three weeks at number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

  1. I miss her so much. And this was always one of my favorites by her. When I was doing series of articles about her and her music after she died, I found out that this was a remake. I had never known that before either.
